Marlborough City Councilor Mark Vital will lead treatment program

Mark Vital was recently named executive director of the Addiction Referral Center Inc., a Marlborough-based substance abuse treatment program, according to a community announcement.

Vital, a lifelong Marlborough resident, brings more than 25 years of experience teaching at Marlborough High School and the Advanced Math & Science Academy. He also serves as Ward 1 city councilor and is founder of Sweats for Vets, a nonprofit that supports homeless veterans.

Founded in 1972 as a drop-in center on Lincoln Street, the ARC initially focused on supporting individuals recovering from alcohol addiction, according to the announcement. Since then, it has expanded its mission to help those suffering from substance use disorders, regain their independence and work toward self-sufficiency.

The ARC relies on a volunteer board of directors to provide essential services and programs to individuals and families grappling with addiction, according to the announcement.

“I am honored to join the Addiction Referral Center and contribute to its important work in our community,” Vital said in a statement. “Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families impacted by addiction, helping them to achieve recovery and self-sufficiency.”

The ARC is committed to providing resources and support to those affected by addiction. With Vital as executive director, the center aims to enhance its programs and outreach efforts.
